SAM Extensible Direct Memory Access Controller Example - memory to memory transfer

Purpose

This example demonstrates how to configure and use XDMA controller for memory to memory data buffer transfers.

Requirements

This example can be used with SAM evaluation kits that have a XDMA Controller.

Description

This example transfers data in one RAM buffer to another RAM buffer. It uses single block with multiple microblock transfer with interrupt mode. After transfer is done, the transferred data will be verified.

Files

  • xdmac.c: Direct Memory Access Controller driver
  • xdmac.h: Direct Memory Access Controller driver header file
  • xdmac_example.c: Direct Memory Access Controller example application

Information

This software is written for GNU GCC and IAR Embedded Workbench® for Atmel®. Other compilers may or may not work.

Usage

  1. Build the program and download it into the evaluation board.
  2. On the computer, open and configure a terminal application (e.g., HyperTerminal on Microsoft® Windows®) with these settings:
    • 115200 baud
    • 8 bits of data
    • No parity
    • 1 stop bit
    • No flow control
  3. Start the application.
  4. In the terminal window, the following text should appear. (values depend on the board and the chip used):
    * -- XDMAC Example --
    * -- xxxxxx-xx
    * -- Compiled: xxx xx xxxx xx:xx:xx --
    *
    * > Test OK.
